Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired US rights to Liam Neeson action feature The Mongoose and will release the film theatrically this autumn.
Also starring Marisa Tomei, Ving Rhames and Michael Chiklis, the film is directed by Mark Vanselow and written by Thompson Evans. Vanselow has been Neeson’s stunt double and second unit director on more than 20 previous projects, including all the Taken films and both Ice Road features.
In The Mongoose Neeson plays a war hero accused of a crime he didn’t commit who leads police on a televised cross-country car chase.
The project is financed by Code Entertainment and Jupiter Peak Productions. Code’s Al Corley, Bart Rosenblatt and Eugene Musso are producers, along with Jonathan Dana, Code’s Rich Freeman, Steven Shapiro and Liz and Ken Whitney of Jupiter Peak. Lisa Wilson and Craig Chapman of The Solution Entertainment Group are executive producers.
Samuel Goldwyn Films previously released the Neeson vehicles In The Land Of Saints And Sinners, Absolution and Cold Storage.
Goldwyn president Peter Goldwyn and CEO Ben Feingold commented: “The Mongoose is exactly the kind of crowd-pleasing thriller that audiences want to experience on the big screen. Mark Vanselow brings an authenticity to the action that only someone who has spent decades alongside Liam could deliver, and with Marisa Tomei, Ving Rhames and Michael Chiklis rounding out the cast, we couldn’t be more excited to bring this film to US audiences this year.”
Code’s Al Corley and Bart Rosenblatt added: “Samuel Goldwyn Films is a terrific partner for The Mongoose and we look forward to audiences seeing this action-packed film.”
