‘Sink’

EXCLUSIVE: MetFilm Sales has acquired international sales rights to Sink, the debut feature of Screen Arab Star of Tomorrow Zain Duraie.

MetFilm will launch the title to buyers at next month’s European Film Market (EFM, February 12-18).

Sink follows a mother who refuses to accept the deteriorating mental health of her suspended high school-age son. The thriller stars The Voice Of Hind Rajab actress Clara Khoury.

Sink debuted in the Discovery section at Toronto International Film Festival in September, going on to play BFI London Film Festival and Red Sea International Film Festival.

The film is produced by Jordan’s Tabi360, in co-production with Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Film Fund, Qatar’s Doha Film Institute and France’s Escaala.

“It was an easy decision to work with [MetFilm],” said producer Alaa Alasad. “Their lineup is amazing, and they are known for treating their filmmakers in a very special way.”

Duraie’s previous work includes 2019 short Give Up The Ghost, which debuted at Venice Film Festival. She was named a Screen Arab Star in 2024.

Sink joins a MetFilm slate that includes Samuel Abrahams’ comedy-drama Lady and Ross McElwee’s Venice documentary Remake.
