Former studio head Stacey Snider is joining FilmNation as chief creative officer to oversee the company’s film and television slate.

She takes up the role on January 5 in a clear sign FilmNation CEO Glen Basner is looking to boost the company’s prestige production ambitions.

Snider, who was most recently a partner at UK outfit Sister Pictures and previously served as chair of Universal Pictures and co-chairman and CEO of DreamWorks, will report to Basner and joins the company’s strategic leadership group.

The executive will work on a roster that includes Tom Hooper’s Photograph 51 and Greg Kwedar’s Possum Song.

The slate includes Olivia Wilde’s The Invite, which will premiere at Sundance in January and stars Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz, Edward Norton, and Wilde.

FilmNation’s recent productions include Sean Baker’s Oscar-winner Anora, and Edward Berger’s Oscar winner Conclave.

“Stacey brings next-level creativity, leadership and experience to our team, further fueling our ambitious plans despite market climate,” said Basner. ”Her unparalleled track record speaks for itself. Hell yeah! We are going to have some fun!”

Snider added: “Glen has been a steadfast champion of independent filmmaking, building FilmNation into a home for bold storytellers. His commitment to creative risk-taking and thoughtfully-financed, globally-minded cinema has helped sustain and expand the space for independent voices on the world stage. I’m excited for the opportunity to join the extraordinary FilmNation team and to direct my energies and experience towards a mission that speaks to me so personally.”

Snider has championed, developed, produced, and marketed studio tentpoles such as Gladiator, The Fast And The Furious and Bourne franchises, as well as prestige titles like Lincoln, Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, A Beautiful Mind, and Brokeback Mountain.
