‘The Oldest Person In The World’

EXCLUSIVE: MetFilm Sales has acquired international rights to Sam Green’s Sundance documentary The Oldest Person In The World.

It will present the film to buyers for the first time this week, with Cinetic Media handling US rights. The film will play at SXSW next month.

Filmed over 10 years and launched in the Premieres section at Sundance, The Oldest Person In The World chronicles the ever-changing record holders of the title of oldest person alive.

It is produced by Alison Byrne Fields and Josh Penn, for US firms Serenade, Aggregate and Free History Project Production, in association with The Department of Motion Pictures.

Executive producers are Alex Turtletaub, Jennifer J. Pritzker, Maida Lynn, Julie Parker Benello, Jenifer Westphal, Marni Grossman, Roman Nesis, Nina Fialkow and David Fialkow.

Green’s films have played Sundance 12 times; while his The Weather Underground was nominated for the best documentary Oscar in 2004.

UK-based MetFilm’s slate includes Biljana Tutorov and Petar Glomazic’s Sundance World Cinema Grand Jury Prize winner To Hold A Mountain; Ross McElwee’s Remake, winner of the Golden Globe Impact prize at Venice 2025; and Brandon Kramer’s Holding Liat, winner of the best documentary prize at Berlin 2025.
