
Studiocanal thriller Cold Storge and Universal’s Charli XCX film The Moment are the widest new releases in UK and Ireland cinemas this weekend.
Jonny Campbell’s Cold Storage launches in 480 locations for Studiocanal. Liam Neeson, Georgina Campbell and Stranger Things star Joe Keery star in the sci-fi feature about a contagious fungus that escapes a sealed facility.
Charli XCX mockumentary The Moment opens in 460 venues for Universal. Aidan Zamiri directs the Sundance premiere, a fictionalised account of the singer’s rise to global stardom during the tour of her Brat album. Alexander Skarsgard, Rachel Sennott, Rosanna Arquette and Jamie Demetriou are among the rest of the cast. The film recently played at the Berlinale in the Panorama section.
David Jonsson and Tom Blyth star in Cal McMau’s Bafta-nominated debut Wasteman, which Lionsgate is opening in 344 cinemas. Set in a prison, the film follows a parolee whose hopes of getting out are jeopardised by a new cellmate.
Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die is out in 325 venues for Entertainment Film Distributors. Sam Rockwell stars as a man claiming to be from the future who needs to recruit a precise number of people from a diner to help save the world. Gore Verbinksi directs the film that recently screened as a Special Gala at the Berlinale.

Mubi is launching Brazilian awards hopeful The Secret Agent in 142 locations. Kleber Mendonça Filho’s thriller follows a former professor caught in the political turmoil in the midst of the Brazilian military dictatorship. Its star, Wagner Moura, is nominated for best actor at the Oscars while the film is nominated in best picture and best international feature.
Fellow awards hopeful If I Had Legs I’d Kick You is out in 77 sites via Picturehouse Entertainment. Oscar and Bafta nominee Rose Byrne plays a mother whose life is unravelling around her. Mary Bronstein directs.
Anime title Lupin The IIIrd The Movie: The Immortal Bloodline opens in 64 locations tomorrow (February 21) via Anime Ltd.
In re-releases, Park Circus is screening 2001 mediaeval comedy A Knights Tale in 241 venues.
In event releases, concert film Chase Atlantic: Lost In Heaven and documentary Paul McCartney: Man On The Run screen in 64 and 53 sites, respectively, via Trafalgar Releasing.
In Asian cinema, Hong Kong comedy Night King and Chinese spy thriller Scare Out open in 83 and 49 cinemas, respectively, via Trinity Cine Asia. Indian romance Do Deewane Seher Mein launches in 50 venues through Bakrania Media while Spa and Swayambhu are released through Dreamz Entertainment.
