
Disney’s Star Wars: The Mandalorian And Grogu is the widest new title in UK and Ireland cinemas this weekend, as romcom Finding Emily and animation Charlie And The Wonderdog are among other releases.
Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian And Grogu opens in 691 locations. It is the first Star Wars film since 2019’s The Rise Of Skywalker which had one of the widest openings of all time in 744 locations. That tile debuted on £9.3m and went on to become one of the highest-grossing films in the territory on just shy of £60m.
Pedro Pascal stars in The Mandalorian And Grogu which follows on from the Disney+ series about a lone bounty hunter and his apprentice.
Alicia Macdonald’s Finding Emily is out in 477 venues. The romantic comedy follows a lovesick musician who teams up with a psychology student to find the dream girl he met on a night out. Angourie Rice and former Screen Star of Tomorrow Spike Fearn star.
Children’s animation Charlie The Wonderdog launches in 475 sites for Altitude. Owen Wilson leads the voice cast as a dog who is bestowed with superpowers after being abducted by aliens.
Also hoping to take advantage of the incoming half-term holidays is Tom & Jerry: Forbidden Compass which Vertigo Releasing is opening in 402 cinemas. The 18th instalment in the animated film series sees the cat and mouse accidentally activate a magical compass which transports them to another world.
Paramount horror Passenger opens in 328 locations. Andre Øvredal’s film follows a young couple living in a van who witness a horrific car accident that haunts them in several ways.
Indian romance Chand Mera Dil is launching in 60 venues via Moviegoers Entertainment.
Trafalgar Releasing has K-pop concert TXT MOA Con In Japan: Live screening in 55 sites on Sunday (May 24).
Cannes 2025 title Eagles Of The Republic opens in 55 cinemas for Curzon. Tarik Saleh’s film follows an Egyptian actor who falls into disgrace with the authorities overnight.
Toronto premiere Hen opens in 24 locations for Conic Film. Told entirely from the perspective of its avian protagonist, Gyorgy Palfi’s film follows a chicken who escapes an industrial farm, only to find herself navigating the pecking order of a crumbling seaside restaurant in Greece.
Further releases include documentary The Balloonists via Dogwoof and sports drama Fight Like A Girl via Underground Slate.
