Oscar Moore prize winnerLindsay Shapero is adapting Tibor Fischer's award-winning novel Under TheFrog for American director/producer Steve Shainberg (Secretary).

The film, which is currentlyin development, will be produced by Shainberg and directed by US-basedHungarian director Dezso Magyar.

Under the Frog is a black comedy set against the backdrop of theHungarian uprising of 1956.

Shapero won the inauguralOscar Moore script writing competition in 1998 for her script Bitten By AZebra, a story about Yugoslav immigrants who had fled to London from thecountry's civil war.

The Oscar Moore Foundationwas established in 1997 as a charitable foundation administered by ScreenInternational, in memory of its former editor-in-chief Oscar Moore who diedof an AIDS-related illness in 1996.

The deadline for submissionsto the The Oscar Moore Screen-Writing Prize 2004 is 5pm, 6th December 2004. The genre for 2004 is thriller.

In addition to £10,000development funding (co-funded by The Film Council), the winner also receives aplace on a residential writers workshop run by Arista and a professionalreading of their script by The Script Factory.
The prize will be awarded at the annual Oscar Moore Film Quiz Evening to beheld early in 2005.
