The world premiere of Coals To Newcastle: The New Mastersounds, From Leeds To New Orleans will open the 13th Sonoma International Film Festival on April 15.

Marca Hagenstad’s film explores the influence of five musicians on the UK’s rising funk-jazz scene. US rights are available.

This year the festival will expand to six venues and programme director Cevin Cathell said the line-up would include favourites from Sundance, Slamdance and Toronto, such as Douchebag and The Joneses.

There are world premieres for the documentaries Fat, Sick And Nearly Dead, The Singularity Is Near, City Lax: An Urban Lacrosse Story, Pinot: Sonoma Dreams, and Leading Ladies. The festival runs until April 18.
