New films on the online production listings, Screenbase, include an array of French co-productions including Des Vents Contraires, Les Amants De Low Life as well as German film Arschkalt.

Wy Productions are currently preparing for the January shoot of Jalil Lespert’s drama about a writer who finds it difficult to overcome the sudden death of his wife and retreats with his children to his coastal home town, in the hope of becoming a better father. Des Vents Contraires is adapted from Olivier Adam’s novel Don’t Worry I’m Fine. Audrey Tautou, Benoît Magimel and Isabelle Carre are among the lead cast. The film is co-financed by Universal Pictures and will be released in France by UPI France in autumn next year.

Two colleagues who are stuck in a van transporting frozen goods are the centre of André Erkau’s comedy Arschkalt, which has started lensing this week in Germany. Herbert Knaup, Johannes Allmayer and Elke Winkens will star in this project which was also scripted by Erkau. Björn Vosgerau, Christian Vennefrohne, Uwe Kolbe, Stefan Schubert, Ralph Schwingel and Hejo Emons are jointly producing for Wüste Film West, ZDF - Das kleine Fernsehspiel, ARTE and Walden Media. NFP marketing & distribution will release the film across Germany.

October 4 will see the start of Nicolas Klotz’s new film Les Amants De Low Life about a girl who falls in love with an Afghan immigrant. Klotz co-wrote the screenplay with Elisabeth Perceval and the cast includes Camille Rutherford, Arash Naimian, Mathilde Bisson and Marie Kauffman. The drama is co-produced by Rhône-Alpes Cinéma, Maïa Cinéma, Les Films Du Losange and Agora Films. Shooting will wrap in mid-November for a 2011 release through Les Films Du Losange in France. Films Distribution has been appointed as the international sales agent.
