The first films added to our online production listings, Screenbase, in the new year include French-US co-production You Don’t Choose Your Family, European co-production Dracula 3D, as well as Spain’s Lo Mejor De Eva.

Christian Clavier is currently preparing the shoot for his comedy You Don’t Choose Your Family due to go into production in March. The film is a joint co-production by Universal Pictures International, Les Films Du Kiosque and Ouille Productions, with François Kraus and Denis Pineau-Valencienne acting as producers. Clavier wrote the script about an unsuccessful car dealer who poses as the husband to his sister’s girlfriend on an ill-fated trip to Thailand. He will also star alongside Jean Reno, Helena Noguerra and Muriel Robin. UPI France will release in France in November.

Bram Stoker’s Dracula will receive the 3D treatment in Dario Argento’s adaptation of the popular novel about an ancient vampire who arrives in England and begins to prey upon a virtuous young woman. Produced by Roberto Di Girolamo, Gianni Paolucci and Enrique Cerezo for Les Films de l’Astre, Multimedia Film Productions and Enrique Cerezo Productions, the $13.2m (€10m) project will be filmed in Hungary from February. FilmExport Group has been appointed as the international sales agent.

Lo Mejor De Eva just finished shooting in Valencia and Madrid with Mariano Barroso in the director’s chair. Barroso also co-wrote the screenplay with Alejandro Hernández about a novice examining magistrate who investigates the murder of a prostitute. Leonor Watling, Miguel Angel Silvestre, Josean Bengoetxea, Helio Pedregal and Nathalie Poza will star in this thriller which is being jointly produced by Telecinco Cinema, Malvarossa Media and Sentido Films. The film is expected to be released in autumn this year.
