The Institute said on Tuesday [16] its Native American & Indigenous Program will host the inaugural Native Producers Workshop in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on Aug 17 and 18.

Topics on the invitation-only agenda include tax credits and incentives for filming on Native American land and strategies for boosting production and profile on Native American cinema.

The workshop will kick off with a private screening of Andrew Okpeaha MacLean’s On The Ice.

“The legacy of Native American cinema proves that these films can be embraced by wider audiences,”

N Bird Runningwater, director of the Sundance Institute Native American & Indigenous Program, said.

“The participants we’ve secured have produced outstanding feature films, and we are enormously grateful that they have agreed to share with attendees the valuable lessons they learned along the way.”
