Revolver Entertainment has taken all UK rights to Alex De Rakoff’s Dead Man Running, the London-set thriller co-financed and executive produced by England football stars, Rio Ferdinand and Ashley Cole.

The film, which will be released in late October, was originally picked up for UK distribution by Pathé but following its decision to scale back its theatrical arm, Revolver has taken over the project.

Directed by Rakoff and produced by Pikki Fearon, Dead Man Running stars rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, British actor Danny Dyer, Brenda Blethyn and Tamer Hassan.

Revolver’s managing director Justin Marciano said: “We’ve been fans of the film since reading the script last year. When [Fearon] asked us to come onboard, we jumped at the chance.”

Manchester United footballer Ferdinand acted as executive producer but was also involved in developing the film’s soundtrack, which includes The Prodigy and Donaeo.

“We’re delighted that Dead Man Running has found its natural home with Revolver,” says Fearon.  “They’ve proved time and again that they know exactly how to deliver this type of story to the consumer.  It was clear that they were the perfect fit for a really effective marketing campaign.”

The film follows Nick Kane (Hassan) and his best friend Bing (Dyer) in a frantic race to find £100,000 in 24 hours after New York loan shark Mr Thigo (Jackson) decide to make an example of one of his late payers.
