Screen is proud to unveil the shortlist for the fourth annual Screen UK Marketing & Distribution Awards.

20th Century Fox, Universal Pictures and Lionsgate UK jointly lead the pack of distributors with 12 mentions, followed by Paramount Pictures with eight, Walt Disney with seven and Picturehouse Entertainment and Metrodome with six each. Picturehouse Entertainment also got a further mention in one of two new exhibitor categories this year.

Leading films by shortlist mentions is Paramount’s Star Trek Into Darkness on six. Universal Pictures’ Les Miserables and Film 4/Picturehouse Entertainment’s A Field In England - which was simultaneously released theatrically and on DVD, free TV and VOD - both earned four mentions.

New categories this year are Exhibitor of the Year (50 screens and under), Exhibitor of the Year (over 50 screens), VOD Campaign of the Year, IMAX Film Campaign of the Year, Brand Partnership of the Year and Media Planning Agency of the Year.

The awards will be handed out at a gala evening at London’s Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel on Oct 30, hosted by Edith Bowman.

This year’s jury to decide the winners includes Altitude CEO Will Clarke, Empire editor Mark Dinning, producer Damian Jones, British Film Commission chair Iain Smith and president of Focus Features International Alison Thompson, among others.

Screen International editor Wendy Mitchell said: “We were thrilled with both the quantity and quality of the entries this year, which will enable the Screen Awards to grow again in its fourth edition. The shortlisted films and companies show such a breadth of creative work, from the smallest independent films to mammoth studio blockbusters.

“All of our shortlisted companies did impressive work to make sure their films connected with audiences, on whatever scale. The judges will have some tough decisions ahead of them. We look forward to celebrating with the entire film community on October 30.”
