London-based Location Collective is one of the leading providers of space to the film and TV industry, with a portfolio catering to every scale, genre and budget of project.

The company brings together OMA Studio Group, London’s largest fully independent studios, and the Location Collective agency portfolio, an extensive directory of vacant production hubs and filming locations, from former municipal buildings and hospitals to stately homes.

The company’s unique structure means Location Collective can provide every combination of space to bring a project to life at the best value possible, a concept which is striking a chord with producers in the current climate.

Becky Butler, managing director, understands how difficult it is for producers and believes Location Collective can meet exactly this moment. “Every producer we are working with is looking to achieve more with less,” she says. “We can look at the requirements of any project and shape up a range of cost-effective space solutions. That may involve high-specification studios, a production hub where a project can base, build and shoot all on one site, a bespoke combination of production offices, prop and costume space, filming locations, or any combination that achieves best value.”

Mix and match

To meet demand, Location Collective maintains a continual dialogue with producers looking to source space in and around London, and is constantly on the lookout for new space coming to market with potential for film & TV production use. The company has an in-house team focused on building relationships with property developers, portfolio owners and landlords to open the doors of new sites which meet the needs of production.

Founder Antony Iredale notes some key trends in how producers are sourcing space.

“Multi-sites where productions can base, build and shoot all on one site are more popular than ever because they help budgets go further, providing controllable space which can become a production playground,” he reveals. “We are also seeing a trend towards producers hiring cost effective production space ‘off campus’ combined with OMA Studio Group soundstages as required for specific builds.”

Some of the company’s most popular multi-sites include The Lakeside Campus, Langleybury Mansion Production Hub, Stubbington House School and Bromley Civic Campus.

One area of focus for Location Collective is sourcing off-campus backlot space. “We are seeing an increasing demand for new backlot sites as the number of new sound stages across London and the south-east has increased over recent years,” Butler says.

Location Collective has developed a close working relationship with the owners of a former turf farm in Buckinghamshire, just outside London. The site has nearly two million square feet of open, flat land, scenic backdrops, ancillary buildings and infrastructure making it ideal for backlot use. Ivinghoe Backlot was first put through its production paces by Universal Pictures, which built all its exterior sets for the two Wicked features at the site. It more recently hosted exterior set builds for Apple TV’s Silo, alongside the production hiring a large number of soundstages with OMA Studio Group.

Quick, efficient and realistic

Iredale says Location Collective can add most value when it starts working with producers in the early stages of pre-production. “We can provide guidance on space packages and how to deliver a concept efficiently whilst helping maximise spend front-of-camera,” he explains.

London-based line producer Hannah Clark was recently based at OMA V Film Studios, hiring soundstage and production support space. An important component of the package for this project was Princess Helena College as a principal location, secured via the Location Collective agency portfolio. “We visited OMA V Film Studios in pre-prep, back in September 2025,” says Hannah. “Location Collective is always quick to respond, and realistic about the constraints TV productions face, in terms of budget levels versus rising costs.”

Producers appreciate that OMA Studio Group aims to provide best value when hiring studio space. As OMA does not hold exclusive relationships with production equipment suppliers, it allows producers to kit out their shoots in a way that is most cost-effective to their project.

“It’s a critical component of our ‘all-round best value’ approach because it means producers can negotiate directly with suppliers to get the best possible rates,” Butler says. “We are giving producers exactly what they want.”

When hiring space with OMA Studio Group, utilities are charged at fully transparent pass-through rates (including just 27p per kwh for stage power), internet / WIFI is included in hire fees, and there are no overtime charges or ground rents for cabins and marquees.

This ‘best value approach’ has the potential to make a big difference to production budgets. One HETV producer notes saving £25,000 per soundstage, per week with OMA Studio Group when compared with their budget for a previous project at another facility.

Los Angeles -based producer Sue Baden-Powell engaged Location Collective for a feature film project last year. The production occupied soundstages and production space with OMA Studio Group, together with one of the most popular Location Collective agency sites, The Lakeside Campus, which was dressed as a hospital set.

“The stages and offices were new and very well set up,” says Baden-Powell. “Location Collective were very open to making a good deal and were very easy to communicate with.”

Quality and value

While Location Collective understands the budget-driven nature of film & TV production, the company continually works to ensure this is not at the expense of quality.

“We are very proud of what we have built with OMA Studio Group and are driven to ensure the value we provide does not come at the expense of quality,” says Iredale. “While producers are looking for the best price, expectations remain high. Our 13 soundstages and 480,000 square feet of production space across OMA Studio Group are high specification, thoughtfully designed for practical production use.”

In 2025, OMA Studio Group secured a “very good” Albert certification, the industry standard for sustainable film & TV production. Butler notes, “We were just one per cent from “excellent”, a gap we will close in 2026! We were very proud to have been the only studio portfolio featured in the 2025 BAFTA Albert Accelerate Report, commending our sustainable practices.”

Location Collective also aims for the highest standards across its agency portfolio, with Ravenscourt Park Hospital winning Location of the Year at the Screen International Global Production Awards at Cannes 2025.

Ravenscourt Park Hospital’s credits included Spider-Man: Brand New Day, F1: The Movie, Goodbye June, Locked In, Starstruck, Back to Black, Say Nothing, Trigger Point S2, Joy, Insomnia, and Sweetpea.

The future

Location Collective believes London remains a highly attractive option even when film and TV production is more mobile than ever. The company consistently sees producers comparing budgets across geographical locations to bring the creative vision of a project to life cost-effectively, with locking in the right space at the right price being key.

“We love the challenge of a project high on ambition and keen to work collaboratively to achieve best value,” says Iredale.
