Stray Dog (Cao Sem Dono) is the big winner of Cine PE - Festival do Audiovisual, one of the most important and prestigious Brazilian film festivals.

The event, basedin Recife (the sunny Northeast of the country), awarded as best film the drama about a guy in the middle of an existential crisis.

Produced by Drama Filmes, Stray Dog is one of the Brazilian highlights at Cannes Film Market this year.

The film is directed by Beto Brant, best known for The Trespasser, screened at Berlin in 2002, and Renato Ciasca.

Based on a book by Daniel Galera, it follows the life of a translator unemployed (Julio Andrade) who spends his time walking around with his unnamed dog.

What breaks his empty existence is an unexpected romance with a beautiful girl who struggles to be a model (Taina Muller, awarded as best actress). A sensitive portrait of a lost generation in Brazil, Stray Dog also received the critics award.

In its 11th edition, Cine PE is the Brazilian film festival with the largest audience in the country (around 3.000 spectators per night).
