FollowingKenneth Branagh's UK adaptation of The Magic Flute, which is inpost-production now, Canadian producers Sullivan Entertainment are planningtheir own feature based on the classic opera.

Thisversion is set during Mozart's 250th birthday celebrations in contemporary Salzburg, where a young singer is castin the lead of a production of The MagicFlute and becomes obsessed with a mysterious opera diva cast opposite him. Meanwhilethe diva is being protected by her musicologist and trainer.

KevinSullivan is directing, producing and executive producing with Trudy Grant.

OperaAtelier is working with Sullivan on the production, which will shoot in startingin June 2006. A three-week shoot at a Toronto studio is planned, workingmostly with green screens before adding CGI. Background photography has already been shot in Salzburg, Munichand Vienna.

The cast features WarrenChristie, Daniel Kash, and opera singers Mireille Asselin, Olivier Laquerre and Erin Windle.
