The Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF) is planning a second omnibus project, Quattro Hong Kong 2, with short films directed by Thailand’s Apichatpong Weerasethakul, the Philippines’ Brillante Mendoza, Malaysia’s Ho Yuhang and Hong Kong’s Stanley Kwan.

Commissioned by Brand Hong Kong and produced by the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society, the finished films will world premiere at the upcoming 35th HKIFF (March 20-April 5).

The first Quattro Hong Kong, produced last year, featured shorts from Hong Kong directors Clara Law, Fruit Chan, Herman Yau and Heiward Mak.

In addition, the Hong Kong Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF), also organised by HKIFFS, has introduced a HK$100,000 Script Development Fund which will be awarded to one of the Chinese-language projects participating in this year’s HAF (March 21-23). As the fund is aimed at encouraging new talent from Chinese-speaking territories, it is open to directors who have made no more than three films.

The fund is coordinated by HKIFFS vice chairman Sylvia Chang with reading a committee comprising Chinese director Ning Hao, producer Patricia Cheng and HAF director Jacob Wong.
