Bavaria Film International has taken on international distribution for Argentinean director Daniel Burman's current box-office hit Empty Nest (El Nido Vacio).

All About My Mother's Cecilia Roth and Oscar Martinez star as a married couple in their prime suddenly confronted with the 'empty nest syndrome' the moment their youngest child leaves home.

'Empty Nest is a very mature, intensely emotional and heartfelt story about any parents or fathers who project themselves into the time after the children are gone. It is Daniel's distinct interest in the everyday heroes and the tasks we have to tackle in our lives that makes the film so identifiable and universal', says Bavaria Film International's Thorsten Ritter.

'In its intelligent, witty and profound dialogue, it clearly resembles the best work of Woody Allen, but it is an absolutely accomplished and unique work and a masterpiece in its own right. The current box office success in Argentina is well deserved.'

A co-production by Burman's co-owned BurmanDubkovskyCine with Spain's Wanda Vision, Italy's Classic and Paradis from France, Empty Nest entered the Argentine box-office at No. 1, but had to make way for Iron Man in its second week of release. It is stayed at No. 2 in its third week and has posted 150,000 admissions to date.

Empty Nest marks Bavaria's second collaboration with Burman after the Munich-based sales agent handled his 2004 Berlinale competition film Lost Embrace (El Abrazo Partido) which won two Silver Bears for the director and his lead actor Daniel Hendler.
