The Weinstein Company has finally concluded negotiations and acquired Sundance documentary The TillmanStory.

The company has taken North America and all English language territories to Amir Bar-Lev’s widely admired documentary.

A&E IndieFilms and John Battsek of Passion Pictures produced the story about the former professional American footballer who joined the Army Rangers and whose subsequent death in combat was manipulated by the US Administration.

The Weinstein Company plans to release the film later this year. A&E will follow the theatrical and home video release with a television broadcast premiere.
