Focus Features International has closed key UK deals at the tail end of a successful Cannes market for the sales operation.

Sales chief Alison Thompson concluded business with Momentum on Gus Van Sant's Harvey Milk feature Milk, which is in post-production and stars Sean Penn as the slain gay rights activist.

Contender has acquired rights to the Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart romantic comedy Traveling as well as the Untitled Sam Mendes Comedy starring John Krasinski, Maya Rudolph, Jeff Daniels, Toni Collette and Cheryl Hines.

As reported here during Cannes, Thompson impressed buyers with a promo of Milk and signed deals with Constantin in Germany, Bim in Italy, SND in France, Paradise in CIS, Serenity in Taiwan and Svensk in Scandinavia.

The Sam Mendes sold in Cannes to Mars in France, Paradise for CIS, Serenity for Taiwan and Svensk for Scandinavia, while Traveling went to Taiwan's CMC.

Other big sellers for Focus Features International have been the Coen Brothers' in-the-works dark comedy A Serious Man and Blood: The Last Vampire.
