The Japanese distributor also picked up Paul W.S. Anderson’s The Three Musketeers from world sales agent Summit Entertainment for a summer 2011 release.

Japanese distributor Gaga Corporation has announced new titles in its upcoming distribution slate acquired at the Cannes market.

Gaga bought rights to François Ozon’s likely Venice competition entry Potiche from Wild Bunch and Wang Quan-an’s Silver Bear screenplay winner Apart Together from Celluloid Dreams. Both are set for an early spring 2011 release.

On the English-language front Paul W.S. Anderson’s The Three Musketeers was picked up from world sales agent Summit Entertainment for a summer 2011 release.

Gaga will also distribute Lionsgate action-comedy Killers this fall.

Gaga Chairman and CEO Tom Yoda commented on the company’s choices in a market that’s become more difficult for imports in recent years. “We try to find titles that can attract not only foreign film lovers, but also a broader audience who usually do not go to the cinema.”

Gaga has returned to active buying, previously acquiring Nowhere Boy, A Single Man and Buried at the AFM and EFM markets.

Current release Le Concert is expected to gross $2m from only 13 prints while French pickup Oceans has become Japan’s most successful documentary release ever, earning $26m.

Gaga also began sales of two new titles in Cannes with Makoto Shinozaki’s survival drama Tokyo Island, starring Tae Kimura, and crime drama Byakuyako.
