Premieres of the latest films from Isabel Coixet, Nicolas Philibert and Kim Longinotto are among the new titles that complete the Panorama line-up of the Berlin International Film Festival.

Spanish director Coixet, currently filming thriller Panda Eyes in Wales, will present the world premiere of Ayer no termina nunca (Yesterday Never Ends) at the Berlinale. Set in 2017, it portrays a Spain in the depths of an economic crisis and centres on a couple whose son’s grave has to make way for a new casino town.

This year’s Panorama will feature 52 films: 16 fictional works in the main programme; a further 16 in the Panorama Special section; 20 in the documentary strand; and two short films.

A total of 29 productions, from 33 counties, are world premieres. These include La maison de la radio, from French director Nicolas Philibert (Etre et avoir) – a documentary about state-backed Radio France.

Another new title added to the line-up is Salma, the latest documentary from British filmmaker Kim Longinotto. The film centres on a woman in southern India whose parents locked her away aged 13  and forced her to marry. She rebelled by writing poems that had to be smuggled out and is now a famous Tamil poet who challenges rural traditions.

Panorama Dokumente will launch on Feb 8 with the world premiere of Swedish doc TPB AFK: The Pirate Bay Away from Keyboard, directed by Simon Klose. The film, about the controversial file-sharing website, will be released for free online at the same time as its premiere.

The PanoramaPublikumsPreis audience award for best fictional and best documentary feature will be presented on Feb 17, the last day of the festival.
