China’s Crimson Forest Entertainment has struck a three-film co-production agreement with Cargo Entertainment and Tunnel Post Production.
The deal covers psychological thriller Unknown Caller, Impulse to star Tiger Chen and sci-fi adventure Aurora.
All three films are scheduled to go into production later this year and will be targeted at audiences in China and other international markets.
Daxing Zhang, Justin Begnaud and Jonathan Lim of Crimson Forest will produce the trio with Cargo Entertainment CEO Marina Grasic and Jon Chiew of Huace Media. Executive producers are Alan Pao and Luke Daniels of Tunnel.
Crimson Forest and Cargo will oversee financing and international sales, while Tunnel Post will provide post-production services.
Crimson Forest COO Justin Begnaud negotiated the deal with Grasic and Luke Daniels, executive in charge of production for Tunnel.
“Partnering with Cargo Entertainment and Tunnel aligns with Crimson Forest’s strategy to collaborate with talented production companies and serve as a conduit for delivering high-quality films to international audiences,” said Crimson CEO Jonathan Lim.
“We believe these films are well-poised to appeal to audiences worldwide and specifically to audiences in China, which is Crimson Forest’s focus in the context of a rapidly growing Chinese theatrical marketplace.”
“Joining forces with Crimson Forest is a great opportunity to deliver high-quality films to international audiences,” said Grasic. “We look forward to reaching audiences far and wide, especially one of the fastest growing contingents of movie-goers in the world – China.”
“Crimson Forest is an ideal fit for Tunnel Post, as we expand our global reach and seek out projects that appeal to audiences on a global scale,” said Tunnel Post CEO Alan Pao. “China is an important marketplace for film, and we are excited to partner with Crimson Forest to deliver top-notch entertainment.”
