Ealing picks up Jessica Yu doc Last Call at the Oasis

EXCLUSIVE: Ealing picks up Jessica Yu’s documentary about global water shortages, film gets its international premiere in Berlin.

UK sales outfit Ealing Metro International has recently acquired documentary Last Call at the Oasis directed by Oscar-winning director Jessica Yu.

Screened at Toronto where it was picked up for US release by ATO Pictures from Submarine Entertainment, the documentary confronts global water shortages and features an appearance from Erin Brokovich and Jack Black among other celebrity campaigners. Elise Pearlstein produces. Executive producers are Participant’s Jeff Skoll and Diane Weyermann along with Carol Baum and David Helpern.

The film will screen in the Berlinale Culinary Cinema strand on February 15.

Yu’s Breathing Lessons: The Life and Work of Mark O’Brien won an Academy Award for Best Documentary Short in 1997 while the director has been nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance on three occasions.

Ealing’s market debut screenings at EFM include Iain Softley’s Trap for Cinderella starring Tuppence Middleton, Alexandra Roach and Kerry Fox while Regan Halls’ Fast Girls has a new promo.
