Magnolia Pictures has taken US rights to Neil Jordan’s romantic fantasy Ondine starring Colin Farrell, Stephen Rea, and newcomer Alicja Bachleda.

The film premiered at Toronto last autumn and will go out in the summer through Magnolia’s Ultra VOD pipeline before its theatrical release.

Ben Browning and James Flynn of Wayfare Entertainment produced the story of a lonely fisherman who catches a beautiful woman who brings luck and joy into his life. Michael Maher and Peter Rawlinson served as executive producers.

“This film was a labour of love, and I’m looking forward to working with Magnolia to give it the audience it deserves,” Jordan said.

Magnolia senior vice-president Tom Quinn and vice-president of acquisitions Dori Begley negotiated the deal with CAA, which also packaged the project, and Browning.
