Mark Urman’s New York distributor and the Toronto-based sales and distribution company will team up on North American distribution and will attend Toronto as an all-rights buyer.

The new venture gives Paladin the buying power to move on select projects at an earlier stage of the production cycle and guarantees domestic release for 108 Media’s international buyers.

The distribution slate kicks off later this year with five titles that 108 Media has acquired over the past several months. The pipeline features Sally El Hosaini’s My Brother The Devil (pictured) set for March 2013, the Slamdance pair of Alexandra Berger’s Danland and Todd Kellstein’s Buffalo Girls, Akan Satayev’s Myn Bala: Warriors Of The Steppe and Seong-yun Oh’s Leafie.

“I am thrilled to be working with 108 Media on the distribution of these impressive and varied films, and am even more excited about the projects we will be able to pursue together,” Paladin president Urman said.

108 Media CEO Abhi Rastogi added: “We always had Mark in mind as the ideal partner to do the films justice and help us plant a flag in the US.  His reputation, contacts, and talents are second to none and, with several fine films in hand, we can hit the ground running as a full-service distributor.”

108 Media’s sales roster includes Zack Bernbaum’s And Now A Word From Our Sponsor starring Bruce Greenwood and Parker Posey.
