Lionsgate has beefed up its roster on the eve of AFM with several titles including thrillers Penthouse North starring Michelle Monaghan and Michael Keaton and Flight 7500 from The Grudge creator Takashi Shimizu.
Penthouse North centres on a haunted photojournalist who settles into a New York apartment only to encounter a sadistic jewel thief on the hunt for a stash of diamonds. Joseph Ruben directs and Jeff Sackman is producing.
Flight 7500 from Shimizu follows a commercial plane flight plagued by supernatural terror. Roy Lee and Taka Ichise are producing and Ryan Kwanten, Leslie Bibb and Amy Smart have joined the cast and CBS Films will release in the US.
The slate includes Murder Of A Cat, a black comedy which Sam Raimi (pictured) is producing and tells of a man who learns his recently murdered cat was living a double life with a mysterious young woman.
Jay Baruchel, Dianne Wiest, Alison Pill, Rob Lowe and JK Simmons will star and Gillian Greene Raimi will direct.
Untitled Paul Schrader Thriller is based on a screenplay Schrader co-wrote with Bret Easton Ellis about a man who is assaulted by a group of affluent youth and boards their yacht in disguise to set a deadly trap.
As previously announced, Lionsgate’s AFM slate include Spike Lee’s revenge remake Old Boy, Raimi’s Evil Dead remake, wartime drama The Railway Man to star Colin Firth and Untitled Diablo Cody Project.
