Screen Media Films has struck a distribution partnership with Deon Taylor Enterprises/Vista Taylor for the thriller Dead Tone.

The film stars Rutger Hauer, Jud Tylor, Antwon Tanner and Brian Hooks.

Based on real events, Dead Tone is about college students whose prank phone calls target the wrong person, a madman who turns on them.

Sacramento, California-based Deon Taylor Enterprises/Vista Taylor will release the film in select cities in the US starting September 3.

Screen Media acquired all other rights - DVD, VOD, ancillary - in a deal negotiated by Deon Taylor’s agent Jay Cohen of Gersh with Screen Media Films’ Robert Baruc and David Fannon.

“I am extremely enthusiastic about being in business with the great people Screen Media,” Taylor said. “They are a forward-thinking, connected company and I can’t wait to move forward with them as a partner.”

President of Screen Media Films Robert Baruc added: “Deon has a wonderful understanding of filmmaking, always creating a fun and enjoyable experience. I’m looking forward to long and successful partnership”.

Deon Taylor Enterprises’s forthcoming projects include The Hustle starring David Alan Grier and Chain Letter starring Nikki Reed.
