The new distributor run by president and CEO John Flock and backed by Warren Nimchuk and Warren Fergus plans to release the comedy in October.

Alexandre Rockwell’s film is part of Julie Sultan’s slate at W2’s international sales division and is about a chaotic funeral. Peter Dinklage, Tim Roth, Seymour Cassell, Rosie Perez, Steve Buscemi and Mark Boone Jr star.

Rockwell also wrote and produced with Brandon Cole, Floyd Byars, Paul Hudson, Dan Kreston, Jen Li and Sean-Michael Smith.

“This acquisition validates our strategy of offering our filmmaking partners a theatrical home in North America for those films we represent internationally,” Flock said. “Pete Smalls has been a hit on the film festival circuit but we know it has even greater potential in a commercial market and will cast the net wider to let audiences discover this great film.”

Earlier in the week W2 Media acquired all US rights to the British coming-of-age drama Toast and will release that film on Jun 11.
