Bollywood star Mallika Sherawat signs to Nuclear Mango's Love, Barack

Govind Menon and William Keenan’s US-India consultancy and production company Nuclear Mango has bought in New Jack City producer Doug McHenry to direct the romantic comedy Love, Barack. The company has cast Bollywood siren Mallika Sherawat.

Gary Goldstein wrote the script based on an original idea from Menon and Keenan, who are producing along with Randy Turrow and Split Image Pictures’ Vikram Singh. The film follows the romance between a Democrat campaign volunteer and her Republican counterpart in the run-up to the 2008 Presidential election. Principal photography will kick off in Los Angeles on January 13.

Alexis Garcia at William Morris Endeavor represents Nuclear Mango.

“Just like Slumdog Millionaire, the projects that Menon and Keenan are producing demonstrate that cinema can bring people together from diverse backgrounds and their stories will have worldwide appeal,” McHenry said.

Nuclear Mango is currently overseeing post-production in Los Angeles on Jennifer Lynch’s creature-feature Hisss, also starring Sherawat.
