Bron Studios, Gloria Sanchez Productions line up 'Friend of Bill'

Bron Studios is reuniting with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay and producer Margot Hand on the dark comedy to star Lizzy Caplan.

The producers have earmarked a November start on Vancouver Island for the story of an alcoholic writer on sabbatical in her home town who struggles to remain sober as she deals with her mother and the attentions of two suitors.

Amy Rice will direct Friend Of Bill from the 2011 Black List screenplay by Harper Dill.

Caplan will next be seen opposite Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard in Robert Zemeckis’ potential awards contender Allied that Paramount will release later this year.

Bron Studios’ Aaron L. Gilbert serves as producer with Jessica Elbaum, Ferrell and McKay of Gloria Sanchez Productions, Margot Hand of Picture Films, and Caplan. Jason Cloth and Richard McConnell of Creative Wealth serve as executive producers.

Gilbert, Hand and Ferrell and McKay’s Gary Sanchez Productions collaborated on Kristen Wiig starrer Welcome To Me.

Bron produced Nate Parker’s awards season contender The Birth Of A Nation, Denzel Washington’s Fences, Migeul Arteta’s Beatriz At Dinner starring Salma Hayek and John Lithgow, and Tully starring Charlize Theron from director Jason Reitman.

WME packaged Friend Of Bill and represents North American rights.
