Among the array of new films on Screenbase are French-Belgian-Spanish co-production Les Chants De Mandrin, UK film Resistance, Italy’s Se Sei Così, Ti Dico Sì, as well as Germany’s Die Vermissten

Rabah Ameur-Zaïmeche has just started shooting Les Chants De Mandrin, which is set in 18th century France, when a group of smugglers organise illegal markets on the outskirts of villages, where they sell tobacco, fabric and other precious products. It is produced by France’s Sarrazink Productions and Moving Scope, with co-production support from Belgium’s CCE and Spain’s Paco Poch. Ameur-Zaïmeche will also co-star in this drama together with Sylvain Roume, Abel Jafri and Sylvain Rifflet among others. Shooting is scheduled to wrap in late November and MK2 will sell the feature internationally and also release it across France.

Michael Sheen, Andrea Riseborough, and Tom Wlaschiha will head the cast in Amit Gupta’s debut feature Resistance, about a group of women which is forced to co-operate with a German patrol after their husbands disappear in German-occupied Britain. Adapted from Owen Sheers eponymous novel, Gupta jointly wrote the screenplay with him. Richard Holmes and Amanda Faber are producing, with Richard Staniforth as executive producer. Shooting will start on Oct 18 in Wales, lasting for six weeks.

Se Sei Così, Ti Dico Sì is the latest feature by Italian director Eugenio Capuccio’s, which centres on unexpected events that occur after an aging, once famous singer, and a rising starlet meet on a plane. Produced by Duea Film and Medusa, with the latter also releasing the film in Italy next year, the comedy stars Emilio Solfrizzi, Belén Rodríguez, Iaia Forte and Roberto De Francesco. Shooting started last week with a script written by Capuccio and Claudio Piersanti.

A father looking for his missing daughter comes across more mysterious cases of young people who have disappeared, in Jan Speckenbach’s feature debut Die Vermissten (working title). Filming for this thriller started last month and is due to continue until November 10, with Andre Hennicke, Sandra Borgmann, Luzie Ahrens and Christoph Bantzer in the lead roles. Sol Bondy produces with Anke Hartwig from Junifilm and German television channel ZDF. Filmgalerie 451 will distribute the film in Germany. Written by Speckenbach, Die Vermissten represents his graduate project for the German Film and Television Academy.
