Laura Linney will reunite with Bill Condon and join Ian McKellen on Sherlock Holmes tale A Slight Trick Of The Mind. FilmNation handles international sales.

The fourth collaboration between Condon and Linney after Kinsey, The Fifth Estate and TV hit The Big C will see the actress portray the great detective’s housekeeper Mrs Munro.

Production is set to begin this summer in the UK. Producers are Anne Carey through her new Archer Gray Productions, as well as See-Saw Films.

Icon/AI Film CEO Aviv Giladi and Len Blavatnik are the executive producers with head of BBC Films Christine Langan and Archer Gray’s Amy Nauiokas. BBC Films is a co-financier.

Hattie Morahan, who can be seen in PBS’ Bletchley Circle and earned strong notices for her portrayal of Nora in A Doll’s House, has also joined the cast.

A Slight Trick Of The Mind finds Holmes in an unusually contemplative frame of mind in post-war England. Troubled by his diminishing mental faculties and the nuclear devastation he witnessed on a recent trip to Japan, the great detective attempts to solve the case that forced him into retirement and uncover the mysteries of life and love.

Jeffrey Hatcher adapted the screenplay from Mitch Cullin’s novel of the same name.
