Matthew Vaughn’s MARV Films has acquired motion picture rights to the young adult novel written by author and filmmaker Tonya Hurley.

Vaughn and Valerie Van Galder will jointly produce the first film based on the satirical series about a high school misfit who discovers she is actually dead.

ghostgirl has been published in around 30 countries and sold more than one million copies in Latin America.

Vaughn and Van Galder first worked together on Snatch when the latter brought the project to Screen Gems. They reunited on Kick Ass when Van Galder served as consultant.

“I am beyond thrilled to have ghostgirl in the hands of such creative, capable and passionate filmmakers,” said Hurley.

“I’m a raging Matthew Vaughn fan and I look forward to working with him, Val, and the whole team at Marv. To see Charlotte Usher come to life is a dream come true for me and for all the devoted ghostgirl fans around the world.”
