Elle Driver handling international sales on the story of forbidden love.
Shooting began today on French director Rebecca Zlotowski’s second feature film RZ2 – Grand Central at the Zwentendorf nuclear power station on the banks of the River Danuve.
The French-Austrian co-production between Paris-based Les Films Velvet and Vienna’s KGP Kranzelbinder Gabriele Production (Museum Hours) tells the story of a forbidden love between the young worker Gary and Karole, the wife of one of his colleagues.
The cast is led by A Prophet’s award-winning lead Tahar Rahim, while Karole is being played by Léa Seydoux who won a César for her performance in Zlotowski’s debut feature Belle Epine which premiered in Cannes’ Critics Week in 2010.

The interiors filmed at the power station in Zwentendorf are actually substituting for one located in Southern France in the film’s screenplay. “The plant is the perfect film set for our production,” according to Marie Tappero, executive producer for the Austrian part of the shoot. “Eleven shooting days are planned and Austrians will be hired in addition to the French crew. Moreover, we have recruited over 90 extras in Lower Austria.”
The French-language production has received backing from France’s CNC, Canal +, France 3 Cinéma, Rhone-Alpes Cinéma, Conseil Régional PACA and the Austrian federal state of Lower Austria.
The second half of the shoot for RZ2 – Grand Central will be held in and around Montélimar from Aug 27 to Oct 3.
International sales will be handled by Elle Driver, while French distribution rights have already been secured by Ad Vitam.
