It will take place in Sheffield in partnership with the Action for Children’s Arts.

Showcomotion, which runs the Young People’s Film Festival in Sheffield, is launching an industry weekend aimed at bringing together industry professionals and decision makers to discuss ways of increasing the diversity, quality and number of films available for young audiences and to look at strategies to encourage more production.

There will also be a number of screening of international films for young audience.

The event, which will run July 6-7 in Sheffield in partnership with Action for Children’s Arts, is aimed at professionals working across the film production-distribution-exhibition chain who are interested in films for young audiences.

Joan Parsons, Showcomotion festival director said: “Showcomotion has a track record of showing a really diverse range of films for young people and our ambition is to see that diversity across the UK’s cinema screens every day. The Showcomotion Industry Weekend is part of our strategy to make our ambition a reality and we can’t wait to get the industry together to discuss how we can make it happen.”

The full programme of speakers, sessions and film screenings will be announced shortly.
