Beijing-based company comes on board ambitious fantasy adventure as investor/producer.

Paul Lin’s Beijing-based powerhouse Show & Share Entertainment Investments has come on board as investor/producer on ambitious $20m The Wonder 3D, the long gestating fantasy adventure from Peter Hewitt starring Karl Urban [pictured] and Willow Shields.

The film will be shooting in China and New Zealand later in the year. Toni Collette is no longer involved but her replacement will be announced shortly.

Scottish producer Iain Brown is producing alongside Ashley Sidway, Robert Sidaway, Lindsay Edmonds and Allan Xia. The project is being put together as a Chinese/New Zealand co-production.

Iron Films, Show & Share and Friendship Films are the production companies. Hyde Park International is handling sales. European Film Bonds is the completion guarantor.

The film, now in pre-production, follows three teenagers, led by defiant outsider Rachel, who after a bruising encounter with school bullies, experiences something incredible and seemingly impossible… a rainbow reaching up to the sky from a pool of golden energy.

They find a rainbow, have the ride of their life but then discover they have triggered a major natural disaster.

Feng Li (Hero, House Of Flying Daggers) is script consultant on the project. Action and stunts are handled by Andy Cheng (Shanghai Noon, Rush Hour) and visual effects by Chris F. Woods (The Goonies, Predator).

Digipost in Auckland is also involved.
