Nationwide short film competition announces second year; Horror Channel, FrightFest and Movie Mogul teaming up with new partner Wildseed Studios.

Horror Channel, FrightFest and Movie Mogul have teamed up with new partner Wildseed Studios for the second year of Shortcuts to Hell.

The nationwide short film competition will see the winning film-maker have their film produced by Movie Mogul and Wildseed Studios, entering production early next year with a minimum cash production fund of £20,000.

In addition, the completed feature film will receive UK digital distribution, a world premiere at Film4 FrightFest 2015 and a broadcast premiere on Horror Channel.

Miles Bullough, managing director of Wildseed Studios, commented: “Wildseed Studios is thrilled to join the team sponsoring and supporting Shortcuts To Hell 2. We love any opportunity to get involved with projects that can move fast and fearlessly and actually get made rather than spend years in development.”

All entries need to submit a three-minute short film version (with a maximum budget of £666) of their full-length horror film idea. The deadline is 6pm on July 22.

A shortlist of 26 finalists will be invited to pitch their feature film directly to the jury (to be announced shortly), with three films going on to screen at this year’s FrightFest and on Horror Channel ahead of a public vote to decide the winner.

“This is a remarkable opportunity for new writer/directors that allows them to shine and be seen, ultimately resulting in the production of their debut feature film with the support and guidance of experienced producers throughout the entire script-to-screen process,” added John Shackleton, joint managing director of Movie Mogul.
