MTM Medien & Television Muenchen and Constantin Film, who were co-producers on Caroline Link's Oscar-winning Nowhere In Africa, are teaming up for Sandra Nettelbeck's second German-language feature Sergeant Pepper after her international hit Mostly Martha.

The comedy about an unusual friendship between a six-year-old boy and a talking dog called Sergeant Pepper will shoot in Hamburg during September and October with backing from the regional public fund FilmFoerderung Hamburg.

Danish actor Ulrich Thomsen and August Zirner from Mostly Martha and Barbara Auer are already cast for the film which will be released by Constantin Film in German cinemas next year and sold internationally by Bavaria Film International.

Bavaria Film International will also handle sales on Nettelbeck's first English language project Helen which will be co-produced by MTM with Mostly Martha producer Pandora Filmproduktion at locations in Canada next year.

Helen is described by the makers as "a portrayal of a marriage and a tale of friendship, one of courage, devotion, and the triumph of the heart over the mind." (Screen Daily, February 19, 2003)
