Pathe and Slingshot have signed a deal which will see Pathe distribute a slate of four films produced by Slingshot, and co-financed with BBC Films and Screen West Midlands.

The deal provides guaranteed UK theatrical distribution and international sales representation for no less than 4 titles, which will be selected from Slingshot's slate of low budget movies being co-developed with BBC Films.

Commenting on the partnership, Arvind Ethan David of Slingshot said: 'Even the smartest of low budget films need strong champions to thrive in today's theatrical market place. In Pathe we have found a partner both smart and strong and we look forward to working with them to launch our films and a new generation of talent.'

Cameron McCracken, Managing Director of Pathe UK stressed the importance of keeping budgets down so as to make the risk of engaging new talent affordable. 'We were impressed by the innovative and energetic methods that Slingshot employs. By being involved as a distributor and international sales agent in the selection and development of projects on the Slingshot/BBC slate, we hope to bring a series of films to the market that has a strong commercial appeal to a younger audience.' McCracken said.

The first film under the deal, teen horror Tormented, starring Alex Pettyfer (Stormbreaker), April Pearson, Larissa Wilson and Mary Nighy (Marie Antoinette) has recently wrapped production and is set for a Spring 2009 release.
