SND will launch pre-sales of Asterix: The Land Of The Gods at the upcoming AFM, the company said on Thursday.

The film marks the first time the legendary comic will be adapted in stereoscopic 3D. Based on the Astrerix book The Mansion Of The Gods, the film will be adapted by Alexandre Astier who is best known for creating the comedy series Kaamelott for M6, SND’s parent company.

M6 Studio is producing along with Mac Guff, the French effects studio that has notably worked on such big productions as Universal’s Despicable Me. Thomas Valentin, president of M6 Studio noted in a statement, “M6 is very proud to have been chosen by Les Editions Albert Rene and the authors to produce this new film and accompany Asterix into this exciting and next era of 3D CGI animation.”

This particular tale of Rene Goscinny’s Gallic hero, the 17th in the series, has been translated into 26 languages and sole throughout the world.
