The full line-up of world premieres Out of Competition at the 68th Cannes Film Festival with details on each title including sales contacts.

Inside Out

Inside Out (US)
Dir Pete Docter, Ronaldo Del Carmen

Thierry Frémaux’s traditional slice of Hollywood animation comes in the form of Docter’s follow-up to his 2009 Cannes premiere Up. That film grossed more than $730m worldwide and the smart money has Inside Out grossing more at the box office than anything else in selection this year. Pixar’s first release in two years is shaping up to be a charmer: it brought exhibitors to tears during a sneak preview at CinemaCon last month.

Irrational Man (US)
Dir Woody Allen

Allen is something of a Cannes fixture but, aside from a lifetime achievement award in 2002, you have to go back to 1985 to find him winning anything on the Croisette, scooping the Fipresci Prize for The Purple Rose Of Cairo. He won’t add to his trophy cabinet this year because despite being asked to play in Competition, the New Yorker opted for an out-of-competition slot. The mystery stars Emma Stone as a student who falls for her professor, played by Joaquin Phoenix.

The Little Prince (Fr)
Dir Mark Osborne

Marion Cotillard, Riley Osborne, James Franco, Mackenzie Foy, Jeff Bridges, Ricky Gervais, Rachel McAdams and Benicio del Toro are among the all-star voice cast of the big-budget, English-language animation from Kung Fu Panda director Osborne. The film, loosely based on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s classic novella, follows a little girl (Foy) who is initiated by her eccentric neighbour, the Aviator (Bridges), into a magical world - a world the Aviator himself was initiated into long ago by the Little Prince (Riley Osborne).

Mad Max: Fury Road (US-Aus)
Dir George Miller

Some 36 years after he turned Mel Gibson into a household name with the original Mad Max, Miller returns to his violent post-apocalyptic world. Now it’s Tom Hardy’s turn to play the titular tough guy alongside Charlize Theron in an out-of-competition screening Thierry Frémaux knows will have the paparazzi out in force.
