Executive director of the Film Society Of Lincoln Center Claudia Bonn has been named executive director of the Wave Hill 28-acre public garden and cultural centre in the Bronx. She succeeds Kate French, who led the initiative for the past 17 years.
Wave Hill marked its 40th anniversary in 2005 by developing a blueprint for capital improvements up to 2012.
'I have known and loved Wave Hill for many years, and I am thrilled to join its talented staff and dedicated board of directors as we launch a new era for this magnificent institution,' Bonn said. 'I'm equally honoured to follow Kate French and, I hope, to add to her impressive contributions and vision.'
Wave Hill maintains a $6m annual operating budget, sustained by a $20m endowment. Public funding provided by the New York City Department Of Cultural Affairs underwrites roughly 15% of operations.
