Busy FilmNation head Glen Basner has taken on international sales on the Sundance premiere Take Shelter starring Michael Shannon and has already struck a deal with Ad Vitam for France.

Sony Picture Classics swooped on North American, Latin American, Australian and New Zealand rights prior to the world premiere in Park City last month.

Jeff Nichols directed the story of a family man in small-town Ohio who builds a shelter to protect his wife and deaf daughter from what he believes is an imminent apocalypse.

Jessica Chastain, Shea Whigham, Katy Mixon and Kathy Baker round out the cast and Tyler Davidson and Sophia Lin produced with Sarah Green, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Greg and Colin Strause serving as executive producers.

“This is a powerful film by a remarkable filmmaker, and we’re thrilled to have it on our sales slate,” Basner said.
