EXCLUSIVE: Michael H Profession: Director sells to Australia, Taiwan, Canada and beyond.

Following last weekend’s UK theatrical release by Artificial Eye, Berlin-based sales agent Films Boutique has reported a slew of sales for the documentary Michael H Profession: Director including to Madman in Australia, Swallow Wings in Taiwan and Mongrel in Canada.

Other distributors who will be able to take advantage of the audience interest in Michael Haneke – director of Oscar best foreign language film winner Amour – include Austria (Filmladen), Poland (Spectator), Hungary (Cirko Films), Ex-Yugoslavia (Demiurg), Germany (Bayerischer Rundfunk – TV), Switzerland (ORF – TV), The Netherlands (VPRO – TV) and Iran (IRIB – TV). French rights are with Les Films du Losange.

Films Boutique has also revealed that Alcine Terran has picked up Japanese rights for Yariv Horowitz’s Israeli war film Rock The Casbah from Berlin Panorama.

Films Boutique’s chief executive Jean-Christophe Simon told Screen that negotiations continue with buyers in Belgium, Italy, Spain, Russia and the US – the film’s North American premiere is planned for the Tribeca Film Festival in April.

Haneke is renowned for not talking about himself but Yves Montmayeur, the director of Michael H Profession: Director, has a long-time relationship with him. The documentary includes unseen footage and excerpts from most of his films and exclusive interviews with Isabelle Huppert, Emmanuelle Riva, Juliette Binoche, Béatrice Dalle, Jean-Louis Trintignant and others.
