Outsider Pictures acquires US rights to Juan Of The Dead

Outsider Pictures will open the film theatrically in Miami shortly after the festival in an exclusive run at Miami Dade College’s Tower Theater. 

Outside co-founder Paul Hudson negotiated the deal with CEO Alfredo Calvino of Guadalajara-based Latinfusion.

Alejandro Brugués directed and Alexis Díaz de Villegas stars in the Havana-set tale about marauding Americans who land on Cuba in an attempt to undermine the regime.

“It’s a satirical look at the present-day streets of the controversial regime and we’re excited to add it to our diverse catalogue of films,” Hudson said. “And it’s a great zombie film too.”

• Xavier Villaverde’s new Spanish film The Sex Of The Angels has been added to the Miami International Film Festival’s Knight-Ibero Competition. Alvaro Cervantes and Astrid Bergès-Frisbey star.
