EXCLUSIVE: European exhibition network Europa Cinemas has selected nine projects to support for its sixth edition of Collaborate To Innovate, its scheme to reward innovative and collaborative projects developed by exhibitors in the region.

51 member cinemas have been selected for a total of €947,000 funding.

Among the projects selected is Cineville Denmark, which will develop a Danish version of the unlimited subscription scheme for independent cinemas that was established in the Netherlands in 2009. In recent years, Cineville has expanded to Belgium, Austria, Germany and Sweden.

Projects supported by Collaborate to Innovate must foster the circulation and visibility of European films, strengthening audience development—particularly among young audiences—and enhancing the skills, resilience and competitiveness of cinemas.

Europa Cinemas’ grants up to €120 000 per project, and had 20 applications submitted by 99 cinemas from 16 different countries in total. Collaborate to Innovate is supported by the Creative Europe Media programme.
