Fort Worth - Emerging

Emerging Location

Winner: Fort Worth, Texas (Fort Worth Film Commission, US)

To secure this award, a film commission was asked to chart an increased number of productions, attractive incentives, improved levels of service, growing crew base and infrastructure, and a variety of filming locations.

Judges looked for evidence of the location’s problem-solving approach, customer service, creativity, community contribution and all the location has to offer — including information about crew, different locations and how they are deployed for productions. “Fort Worth has come out of nowhere in the last decade,” said one judge. “With the new incentive and volume of production, the location has become quite a powerhouse.”

Driven by Fort Worth Film Commission, which was established in 2015, one judge described the Texas city’s growth and approach as “exceptional”, going on to add that “the ‘extra mile’ attitude is very commendable”.

Other nominees:

  • El Paso, Texas (Visit El Paso, US)
  • Slovakia (Slovak Film Commission)
  • Spain (Spain Film Commission)
  • Victoria, British Columbia (Vancouver Island South Film & Media Commission, Canada)
