The line-up for the Berlinale’s Panorama is now complete with the confirmation of the remaining films including projects from Ferzan Ozpetek, Andreas Kleinert, Rosa von Praunheim, Feo Aladag and Patrick Hughes.

A total of 54 films from 29 countries have been selected, of which 31 are world premieres and 18 directorial debuts.

The Panorama’s main programme will open on February 11 with Felix Mikhailov’s Jolly Fellows (Veselchaki) (picured) focusing on the clandestine subculture of a Moscow club and its drag queen performers confronted with Russia’s profoundly homophobic society.

The main programme’s world premieres will also include Andreas Kleinert’s Barriere, Patrick Hughes’ Red Hill and Cheryl Dunye’s The Owls.

Meanwhile, the Panorama Special will kick off a day later on February 12 with Czech director Jan Hřebejk’s family drama Kawasaki’s Rose (Kawasakiho Růže), which highlights a dark chapter of recent Czech history.  The Panorama Dokumente showcase of documentaries will open with David Sieveking’s David Wants To Fly exploring his idol David Lynch’s obsession with transcendental meditation.

The Panorama Dokumente’s showcase includes a number of projects covering art and film history, including Blank City, which brings together an array of US avant-garde artists from the 1970s and 80s.

In addition, section head Wieland Speck has invited supporting films by Canada’s “Panorama regular” John Greyson, James Franco and Ira Sachs.

Speck also announced that the filmmaker Werner Schroeter will receive the Special TEDDY 2010 at the TEDDY - Queer Film Awards during the Berlinale.
