Tokyo Filmex could become the next venue to host one of the Berlinale Talent Campus (BTC) Campus Abroad programmes.

“We are currently discussing if we can set up something there,” BTC programme manager Matthijs Wouter Knol told Screen.

BTC currently has Campus Abroads in Sarajevo, Buenos Aires, Guadalajara, and Durban, and had previous editions in Cape Town, Kiev and New Dehli.

Meanwhile, this year’s Campus Abroad in Durban will introduce the Doc Station where selected documentary projects are given feedback from international experts.

This year’s Berlinale Talent Campus, which kicked off on Sunday at HAU2, received increased support from the British Council after Skillset dropped out as a main partner in the wake of the closure of UK Film Council.

“More Brits than ever before have applied for the Talent Campus,” project manager Christine Troestrum said. “They are among the largest contingent with the Canadians, Americans and Germans.”
